Perficient currently has a career opportunity for a Project Manager in our Detroit office located in Livonia, MI. The Project Manager role is intended to manage and adapt continuously to project goals. This highly collaborative role will need to work closely with all departments, including account, creative and technology teams, in order to deliver quality solutions to our customers. 

 

 

Responsibilities

The initial assignment is to fulfill the role of Product Manager and the following responsibilities:

 

  • Serve as a core member of a product team that designs and develops REST microservices and other software applications
  • Facilitate Daily Standups, Team Iteration Planning Meetings, Team Retrospectives, and Story Acceptance Sessions
  • Work closely with Business Partners/ Product Owners & Consumers to understand their product vision & requirements and break it down into an actionable backlog of user stories for the development team.
  • Manage and Prioritize a backlog of User Stories for the Product Team
  • Work with team members to establish best practices to maximize efficiency and minimize risk.
  • Interact and work closely with anchor to devise solutions and break them down into incremental production-ready user stories
  • Identify exciting opportunities for adopting new concepts to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges
  • Grow subject matter expertise and provide guidance to other members on the team and the program

 

Qualifications

Required Experience:

 

  • 5+ years of Information Technology experience (e.g., business analyst, project management, architecture, design, full application/system development lifecycle) – prior project or product management experience is a must.
  • Ability to excel in a Lean Startup / User Centered / Agile operating manner
  • Ability to balance technical feasibility, with Business Viability, and User Desirability when defining Features and User Stories in the Product Backlog
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and establish trust and positive relationships across teams
  • Excellent organization skills to support working in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Ability to perform tasks under pressure
  • Open to travel and/or work with teams in different time zones
  • Ability to operate in an ambiguous environment
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into easily understandable concepts understood by multiple cross functional teams
  • Knowledge of Features, user stories & acceptance criteria
  • Willing to work on a highly collaborative team fulfilling different roles and fill gaps
  • Proactive attitude and not afraid to ask questions
  • Strong desire to help the program and the company be more efficient and build solutions that make the team more productive and increase quality confidence
  • Prior experience working with project management software such Pivotal Tracker, Jira, or Rally

 

Nice-to-Have Skills/Experience:

 

  • Exposure to automated testing concepts, tools, and frameworks, i.e., CI, CD and Test Driven Development – using tools like GitHub, Nexus, Jenkins/Concourse, automated testing tools
  • Behavioral Leadership (ability to handle difficult situations and build relationships)
  • Experience with Kanban or XP methodology and practices
  • Prior experience coaching/mentoring teams
  • Prior experience using Postman and SoapUI
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and become productive in new concepts quickly
  • Experience helping troubleshoot application and performance issues
  • Understanding of PCF / Cloud Foundry will be helpful
