    Perficient currently has a career opportunity for a Liferay Technical Architect to work as part of our national digital experience platform practice.


    Job Overview:

    The Liferay Portal Architect is responsible for the full systems development lifecycle from requirements gathering through implementation of software architecture solutions. The individual provides overall direction, life cycle management and leadership for all Liferay components and portlet development. Working closely with the Enterprise/Solution Architect the individual performs a lead role in the identification, analysis, evaluation and recommendation of technologies required for implementing Liferay Portal Solutions.


    • Provide architectural solutions/designs to project execution teams for implementation.
    • Provide technology architectural assessments, strategies, and roadmaps for one or more technology domains.
    • Work with application developers, users, operational leadership, and subject matter experts to understand current and future operational data analysis goals. Recommend modern technology stacks to meet those goals and help engineering teams migrate towards their use.
    • Collaborate with the customer's operations and technology leadership on the future analytic goals of the organization, and design a technical architecture to meet those goals. Participate in configuring the architecture, and advise engineering teams on its efficient use.
    • Lead a work stream or act as a team lead and manage non-complex components of the work plan/project.
    • Utilize analytical, process, and/or technical skills to meet project objectives and deliverables that are self-directed and within project scope.



    • Minimum 10 years of technical experience.
    • At least 5 years of experience in technology consulting, enterprise and solutions architecture and architectural frameworks.
    • Liferay DXP experience.4-6 years experience with architecting and implementing Liferay Portal and developing portlets (using Liferay SDK and/or JSR 286), OSGi, themes, hooks, and extensions.  Liferay certification would be a plus.
    • Extensive knowledge of Java & J2EE Technologies (Servlets, JSP, EJBs), integration techniques (JDBC, Web Services, JMS, etc.) and Web technologies (HTML, CSS and JAVA SCRIPT).
    • Deep Liferay experience around planning, configuration, clustering and tuning
    • Experience leading onshore/offsite development
    • Strong experience with Spring MVC and Liferay MVC
    • Proven experience with web development technologies including HTML4/5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery
    • Experience with modern full stack development frameworks such as Angular, Node.js, MongoDB, Express, Bootstrap, etc.
    • Extensive exposure on portal security configurations & SAML integrations.
    • Successful teamwork experience & demonstrated leadership abilities
    • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience performing administration, development, configuration of WebSphere Portal Server would be a plus
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
    • Must be open to travel.

    Preferred Skills and Education:

    • Experience working with a globally distributed team and managing off-shore teams.
    • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
    • Certification in (Insert technologies).
    • Experience with authoring, editing and presenting technical documents.
