    Perficient currently has a career opportunity for a Business Operations Manager in our St. Louis office.


    The Business Operations Manager is a key player in the operating unit’s business processes ensuring accuracy in our financial statements, compliance with internal corporate policy, and GAAP external financial reporting requirements. This role has hands-on daily interaction with key management across the business unit including VPs, General Managers, Directors, Project Managers, and Sales. The Business Operations Manager is also responsible for planning and decision making within the Business Operations organization as a whole and will manage a team of employees within this group directly.




    Business Finance Management:

    • Ensures projects are setup accurately and timely so that revenue recognition is accurate and in compliance with GAAP and internal control requirements are met.
    • Ensures customer invoicing is timely and accurate and communicates material billing adjustments timely and with urgency as appropriate.
    • Monitors unbilled/unearned project balances to ensure that project accounting is appropriate and reflected in the correct financial period.
    • Ensures all time and expenses are entered and approved timely per company policy.
    • Key point of contact for certain Business Unit's Operations teams, including PMs, GM, or consultants.  Builds relationships with and provides guidance and assistance on business processes, project accounting questions, support needed, reporting and analysis as required.
    • Provides reporting on a quarterly basis to the Operations and Executive team to capture any financial impact, realized and potential, related to long term travel project arrangements. Works with Operations teams to proactively find solutions to avoid the additional costs related to long term travel.
    • Subject Matter Expert in areas of responsibility including project related business processes, project costing, project revenue recognition and allocation, and invoicing. Provides escalation assistance, recommends potential solutions to issues, follows established escalation procedures, and resolves complex issues.
    • Assists with the development and communication of standard processes and procedures across responsibilities.

    People Management:

    • Directly manages a team of Business Operations resources, including some that may be remote. Ensures they are properly trained and understand their role.
    • Develops measurable and attainable goals for each team member and monitors attainment on a consistent and regular basis using key performance indicators.
    • Acts as a career mentor and provides construction feedback in a timely manner to their team.
    • Nurtures skills in team members and helps to develop internal talent.
    • Interviews and selects candidates for the Business Operations team.
    • Participates in integration of new business units post M&A activity.


    • BA/BS in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience required in Finance, Accounting or Business Operations.
    • People management experience required.
    • Proven strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong service orientation.
    • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion.
    • Ability to work well with others under tight deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities.
    • Ability to build a team oriented environment that is fair, open, honest, humble, and competitive.
    • Ability to think proactively.
    • Proven conflict management skills and professionalism.

    Preferred skills:

    • Experience in the professional services industry and understanding of key KPIs and metrics commonly used.
    • Strong comfort with Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, charts, and formulas.
