    Responsibilities

    Duties and Responsibilities

     

    The following reflects the Brand Experience Practice leadership’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The leadership team may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.  Some of the duties and responsibilities:

    • Helping to reinforce globally sound UX research standards for team members on assigned agency projects
    • Applied UX Research (Usability Testing, Qualitative/Quantitative data analysis, Competitive Intelligence, benchmarking, UI reviews) and consulting with various internal and client teams
    • Analyzing Business Requirements and User Requirements and understanding the connections and distinctions between them through various means (e.g. Ethnography, Focus Groups, Task Analysis, Surveys, Personas, Scenarios, Use Cases, etc.)
    • Working with internal and client stakeholders to understand the ultimate context of Digital Experiences and outlining UX Research Plans that reflect User Types/Segments
    • Grasping the baseline of current client Digital Experiences (e.g., Heuristic Reviews of existing/prior/competitor solutions)
    • Experimental and Interrogative Methods (e.g., Cognitive Walkthroughs, Think-Aloud Protocols, Remote Usability Testing, etc.)
    • Research created specifically for design-centric approaches (e.g., Concept Testing, Participatory Design, Rapid Prototyping, etc.)
    • Research messaging for development audiences (e.g., communicating the rationale behind design requirements to developers, evaluating iterative software releases)
    • Mentoring and leadership for less experienced UX Researchers
    • Expertly navigating the trade-offs between business needs and User benefits
    • Consolidation of Qualitative/Quantitative research to inform User Requirements definitions, Content Strategy, wireframes, and designs
    • Creates or directs the creation of actionable stories for stakeholders in the form of research reports, journey maps, or other UX Research service deliverables
    • Participate in the creation of pitch decks and pursuit briefs highlighting UX Research services and offerings based on solid UCD principles
    • Drives innovative solutions within platform constraints and technical limitations
    • Leverages metrics, optimization, Qualitative/Quantitative research to inform and validate design decisions and directions
    • Occasionally manage vendor-based research projects
    • Inspires others through their work and professionally represents Perficient Digital at various industry events, conferences and symposiums

    Qualifications

    • Skills

      • Excellent communication, collaboration, negotiation and interpersonal skills
      • Excellent visual/verbal communicator with strong client-facing presentation skills (i.e. ability to present to various levels/groups)
      • Strong conceptualization ability and strong visual communication ability
      • Proven success creating, leading, and executing world-class UX Research studies
      • Proven success managing and coaching talented, yet less experienced UX Research team members
      • Proven success creating UX Research that resulted in world-class mobile experiences (both native app and responsive/adaptive design in browser)
      • Phenomenal ability to anticipate and create UX Research Designs that discover/elucidate User needs by incorporating research, strategy, design and analytics
      • Solid understanding of web and mobile (native) technologies
      • Extensive experience with planning, conducting, and communicating results from a diverse range of UX Research activities, including Research Design, participant screening/recruiting, Indepth Interviews, Focus Groups, Contextual Inquiry, Card Sorting, and Usability Testing
      • Experience dealing effectively with varied decision makers
      • Ability to work independently, while escalating issues as necessary
      • Strong understanding of common software development practices
      • Experience with the Agile development methodology and ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment with aggressive UX Research, design, and development schedules
      • Clear, demonstrable leadership skills with experience managing and directing other UX Research team members
      • Able to translate UX Research findings into clear design recommendations, including working with clients and other members of the internal and client design team(s)
      • Knowledgeable about best practices for Interaction/Experience Design specific UX Research across multiple platforms
      • Flexible and adaptable in UX Research approach to accommodate User availability as well as to fit project budget and timelines
      • Able to work well in a multifunctional team
      • Excellent time management skills  

       

      Education and Experience

      • MA/MS in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Experimental/Cognitive/Social

      Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, or other related discipline

      • Experience in managing and/or collaborating with creative talent and creative agencies
      • Experience working within the Healthcare, Automotive, Financial and Retail industries a plus

       

       

      Qualifications

      • 6 – 14 years of experience in UCD and UX Research Strategies and Processes
      • Marketing, advertising, design or brand-building experience, with an ability to keep each

          client’s long-term brand goals in mind

      • A willingness and desire to build upon what you know in order to continually evolve your

          research skills to align with creativity and design thinking

      • Strong understanding of UX Research best practices
      • Strong parallel thinking abilities and team leadership skills
      • Desire and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects, in various

          phases, under tight deadlines

      • Knowledge of design trends for mobile, tablet, video and other technologies/platforms (e.g.

          IoT, AR/VR, Voice, etc.)
