     The Perficient Custom Development and DevOps Business unit is made of up cross skill devops engineers across the country focusing both on core development and next generation enabling technologies and solutions. Our team provides strategic consulting, security assessments, cloud readiness, tool adoption, and deep skill support to our clients across the country.

     

    Perficient currently has a career opportunity for a Technical Architect as a remote employee.

     

    Job Overview:

    As a Technical Architect, you will provide best-fit architectural solutions for one or more projects; you will assist in defining scope and sizing of work; and anchor Proof of Concept developments. You will provide solution architecture for the business problem, platform integration with third party services, designing and developing complex features for clients' business needs.

     

    The Technical Architect will provide technology direction, ensures project implementation compliance, and utilizes technology research to innovate, integrate, and manage technology solutions.  You will collaborate with some of the best talent in the industry to create and implement innovative high quality solutions, participate in Sales and various pursuits focused on our clients' business needs.

     

    This role is considered part of the Business Unit Leadership team and may mentor Junior Architects, Consultants, and/or development team members.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Demonstrate strong DevOps skills, ideally combined with experience around CI/CD pipelines and/or infrastructure as code
    • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Agile methodologies and continuous delivery processes and tools such as Jenkins, JIRA, Chef, etc. etc.
    • Participate in technical planning & requirements gathering phases including design, code, test, troubleshoot, and document engineering software applications
    •  Ensuring that technical software development process is followed on the project, familiar with industry best practices for software development and deployment
    • Manage infrastructure as code tools and processes for infrastructure targeted for on-premise and cloud environments
    • Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience level.
    • Manages schedule, key project milestones and escalations (if required) within a project timeline
    • Must be a highly motivated, quality driven DevOps lead for the team. While strategic thinking and coordination are important elements of this role, this individual will be required to take a very hands-on role 
    • Manage and drive end-to-end process design, improvements, and automation 
    • Ability to help build high performing teams and motivate people, instill accountability, and achieve results in a rapidly changing environment
    • Demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communications skills with the ability to listen, articulate positions, and influence outcomes beyond direct areas of ownership
    • Has a positive, enthusiastic attitude and the ambition to tackle challenging issues
    • Negotiates skillfully in tough situations with internal and external groups; can be both direct and diplomatic
    • Can quickly find common ground and solve problems for the good of all; is a team player and encourages collaboration
    • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
    • Measure and monitor progress to ensure project deliverables are delivered on time and with great quality
    • Communicate plans, status, and issues within Engineering and to Leadership teams.

     

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 10 years of programming experience with Java, Groovy, Bash, Python, Ruby, React, and/or equivalent 
    • At least 5 years of experience in technology consulting, enterprise and solutions architecture and architectural frameworks
    • Experience with VMWare’s vRealizeAutomation / Orchestrator products
    • At least 5 years of experience with the infrastructure as code (Chef, Ansible, CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.)
    • At least 5 years of experience with the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (Git, Jenkins (declarative pipelines), Bamboo, Docker, etc.)
    • Experience with both Windows and Unix platforms
    • Experience in defining new architectures and ability to drive an independent project from an architectural stand point
    • Experience in complete project life cycle activities on development and maintenance projects
    • Knowledge and experience in developing software using agile methodologies
    • Proven track record of technical leadership roles delivering solutions within defined timeframes
    • Skilled in building relationships with clients and in practice development activities
    • Demonstrated success in performing work and managing complex and/or large consulting projects
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
    • Must be open to travel

    Preferred Skills and Education:

    • Experience working with a globally distributed team
    • Master’s degree or equivalent experince in Computer Science or related field
    • Certification in Chef, Jenkins, Atlassian, Cloud, VMware and/or similar
    • Experience with authoring, editing and presenting technical documents
